Interior Work Designs of the Future

As more baby boomers retire and millennials hit the workforce, interior designers are forced to reconsider new and creative ways develop space. What worked for the boomer generation may not be as doable for the replacement generation. From the exterior transformation of commercial buildings to the interior custom furniture choices, designers are staying in tune with what styles, architectural tweaks, and space changes will compliment millennials.

Here are 2 trends interior designers can look for in the near future.

Leveraging Social Media for Transformational Change

With the higher the population of people working for one corporation there is, the more need for “cultural integration;” yet, at the same time, making the transformation within the business can be challenging. A new method is trending to use social media to obtain information from the end-user, which will then help bring about necessary change. The company’s brand and culture is then solidified.

Leveraging Brand in a New Way

Companies used to highlight their products as a way of reinforcing their brand and, of course, selling their product. However, the angle now is to highlight customer settings their product would complement. “The idea is to invoke customers experientially so their influence is felt in relation to evolving the brand and products.” The shift moves from the product to customer. As a result, the blending of the customer’s own life and experiences in some way with the product itself, product place, or even to a nostalgic emotion the product creates, encourages emotional connections between brand, culture, and customer. Furthermore, to boost creativity, these companies that work in consumer products are developing work areas that experiment with contrasts such as “quiet/loud, dark/light, and serious/playful."
