Saatchi + Saatchi

Location
Dallas, TX

In June 2016, Studio Other, Studio Other’s custom furniture division, partnered with Loescher Meachem Architects and Cresa Corporate Real Estate to create a custom workspace for a prominent global advertising agency, Saatchi & Saatchi. The agency has over 6,500 employees in 67 countries. The strategic decision to open a new office in Dallas came about as a result of their partnership with automotive giant and one of their largest clients, Toyota.  Residing in the McKinney & Olive tower in one of Uptown Dallas’ most up and coming areas, the company occupies approximately 50,000 square feet and houses three different companies throughout the sixth and seventh floor of the building: Saatchi & Saatchi, Team One and Conill’s Housewarming.

Studio Other collaborated with Los Angeles design firm, Loescher Meachem Architects, to ensure that the feel of the space matched the company’s cool, vintage, and eclectic vibe. Through preliminary meetings with Saatchi & Saatchi and LMA, Studio created a comprehensive workstation concept inspired by a traditional Chinese dim sum table. The round shape of the table allows employees to collaborate and communicate easily and without sightline impediments. The tables were designed to be multi-functional and accommodate seating for up to six people depending on the task at hand. Similar to a dim sum table where the middle is a rotating disc, Studio created a raised tier in the center of the workstations for decorative accents. All power and data management was engineered in a circular shape underneath the desks feeding into the center opening on the table for a clean look. The full design scope of the project included 24 of these round workstations, 48 conference tables, 84 collaborative bullpen areas and two reception desks. With the use of typically residential elements, custom wallpaper, and vintage treasures combined with modern influences, the completed space is diverse, beautiful and highly functional.

Studio Other is honored to have worked with Saatchi & Saatchi, Cresa and LMA to bring this project from dream to reality. Staying true to the integrity of the design while creating a functional space for employees is always a challenge, but this project is proof that it’s possible and when done right, can produce amazingly stunning results.
