In August 2017, Studio Other partnered with Los Angeles architecture firm, Gensler, to create a custom workspace for a confidential company. Because this was a new office, the company required a full set of workstations, private office desking, furniture for conference rooms and complimentary ancillary pieces in the common spaces.

Working in collaboration with Gensler and the company itself, Studio Other created comprehensive concepts for open plan desking for 8, 5 private office suites, 1 traditional conference room, and 1 lounge style meeting room, kitchen table, and a complete ancillary furniture curation that together would achieve a chic and modern office. “The partnership with Studio Other was one of collaboration and co-creation. Jax DiBenedetto and her team found just the right balance between edgy-industrial and cozy-feminine-chic that really spoke to the design team and our client. The attention to detail is fantastic,” says Chris Coldoff who led the project on behalf of Gensler.

The workstations were composed of hot rolled steel surrounds, with chicken wire glass dividers and solid oak surfaces to achieve a seamless pairing of industrial, modern and rustic. The system was designed to meet the needs of the users with height-adjustable surfaces, metal-framed glass dividers and mobile storage crafted out of hot rolled steel, with oak veneer drawer fronts and leather pull. These units were then paired with custom metal and oak bookcases bringing a residential feel to each configuration.

Like the workstations, private office desks were also crafted with hot rolled steel and solid oak. The storage continued the steel and wood theme with a residential style hutch design to showcase personal items. Studio then created a beautiful boardroom table made with Herringbone planks of reclaimed wood with contrast framing to create a subtle pattern. The unit was equipped with edge and surface power units. Coordinating hot rolled steel credenza with leather pulls was designed to their specific need to hide trash and recycling bins as well as AV equipment.

The ancillary furniture located in private offices and public lounge spaces included modular lounges, recliners, coffee tables, lighting and shelving. The curated collection brought a refreshed tone to the workstations with tufted detailing, a neutral pallet and various textures coming together to achieve an elevated residential feel.
